Pizzi has distanced himself from talk linking Ruben Amorim with Benfica, insisting any decision rests with the club’s hierarchy.
According to Glorioso 1904, the former Benfica captain, now in his first week of retirement, told reporters at the launch of José Eduardo’s book that it was not his place to respond, saying responsibility lay with the president, the board and those handling the matter. He added that he did not know whether Amorim would take the role.
Pizzi said the issue did not concern him, noting his strong relationship with Amorim and wishing him continued success.
Amorim is viewed as a leading candidate to succeed José Mourinho, who is preparing to leave Benfica to return to Real Madrid.
Benfica, however, face a complication as the former Sporting coach is prioritising staying abroad.
