Ruben Amorim has reiterated his belief in Mason Mount ahead of the midfielder’s return to action.
Mount has struggled since he joined Man United from Chelsea for a £55 million fee two summers ago. The Englishman has lacked form and fitness during his time at Old Trafford so far.
The midfielder has made just eight league appearances this campaign. He has started just four of those games and he only made five Premier League starts last season. Mount’s time at United has been very underwhelming so far.
However, his new manager has full faith in him and Amorim plays a system that suits the attacking midfielder. Mount played his best football in a similar system at Chelsea under new England manager Thomas Tuchel. United’s boss declared, “I have already said that I really love Mason Mount.”
Amorim explained, “Because I see him, I know how he suffers I know he does everything right, his physical aspect is perfect.
“He is trying too much, maybe he is thinking too much about everything.”
The Portuguese coach continued, “He was a European champion. He is a talent, a really talented player.
“And when a player does everything like he does, he will always have the support of everybody here in the club.
“So we will try to manage the load. You have already seen some players that had a lot of problems, in some moments they can stay fit.
“I believe a lot in Mason Mount and we need players like Mason Mount.”
The midfielder was spotted back in training for the Reds ahead of their Europa League tie in midweek. However, Mount was not included in the squad for that game.
Asked if he will be available to play at the weekend, Amorim answered, “I think he is going to be on the bench, we will see.
“But we need we need every player and if he is fit then I am going to take him.
United’s boss finished, “He cannot play too many minutes but just five minutes of Mason Mount is perfect.”
