Ruben Vargas has indicated he is ready to join Leeds United in January, with Sevilla open to a sale, according to TEAMtalk.
Daniel Farke’s side have steadied after a 3-2 loss at Manchester City, with wins over Crystal Palace and Chelsea and draws against Liverpool and Brentford lifting them six points clear of the drop.
The report says intermediaries are working to place the Switzerland international in England this winter, and that Leeds have been contacted alongside Sunderland and Bournemouth. A deal is said to be possible for around €10m (£8.7m), a figure viewed as attractive.
Vargas has three goals and four assists from 12 La Liga appearances this season. He is understood to want to play with Noah Okafor, who is already at Leeds, and at 27 he is seen as capable of making a swift impact.
January business is rarely straightforward, given limited sellers and players needing time to settle. Even so, Vargas appears a strong fit, with an existing dressing-room connection, willingness to move and a fee that reduces risk. Leeds may need to act quickly before others advance talks with intermediaries.
