Cardiff City interim manager Mark Hudson has revealed that while Rubin Colwill is making progress in his road to recovery, it remains to be seen whether the attacking midfielder will be fit enough to be included in the club’s match-day squad this weekend.
The Bluebirds will host Coventry City at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.
Colwill has been forced to watch on from the sidelines since sustaining an injury on international duty with Wales.
In the absence of the attacking midfielder, Cardiff have managed to demonstrate some reals signs of promise in the Championship under the guidance of Hudson.
After picking up a point in their meeting with Burnley, the Bluebirds defeated Blackburn Rovers earlier this month before sealing an impressive victory over Wigan Athletic.
Ryan Wintle, Joe Ralls and Andy Rinomhota started in a three-man midfield against the Latics and are likely to feature once again in the club’s meeting with Coventry.
Ahead of this fixture, Hudson has shared an update on Colwill.
Speaking in his pre-match conference (as cited by Wales Live) about the attacking midfielder, Hudson said: “Rubin completed half a session at the beginning of the week but he’s not fully trained yet.
“We’re looking to have him back sooner rather than later, but he’s getting close, which is good.
“He’s had a lot of work to do in and around strengthening his physique, which is something we planned for him.”

Asked whether Colwill could feature this weekend, Hudson added: “Not sure yet.
“He’s got some protocols to complete.
“He’s not completed a full training session yet.
“We’re looking forward to having him around and available for selection as soon as possible.”
The Verdict
Although Colwill may not be fit enough to feature this weekend, the news that he is getting closer to a return to action is unquestionably a boost for Cardiff.
During the previous campaign, the 20-year-old provided a respectable total of seven direct goal contributions for Cardiff in all competitions.
Whereas he has yet to score a goal or provide an assist for the Bluebirds this season, there is no reason why Colwill cannot help his side climb the Championship standings over the course of the coming months.
In order to minimise the risk of another injury setback, Colwill ought to be eased back into action by the Bluebirds.
