Rui Costa aware of €20m price as Benfica ‘to target’ 1.95m defender Julian Chabot | OneFootball

German media report that Benfica have sounded out 1.95m centre-back Julian Chabot of Stuttgart, with Rui Costa aware of an asking price of about €20 million, while the club continue efforts to finalise André Luiz.

Sky Sports Germany adds that Roma are also targeting the 27-year-old, and that both sides have made initial contact with his representatives to gather information. It also notes Chabot’s recent agency switch could point to a move, but Stuttgart are not keen to sell in January.

Even so, the reports suggest Stuttgart would be open to talks at the end of the season, when the summer window opens.

Chabot has a contract to 2028 and has already played about 20 games this season for Stuttgart, 14 in the Bundesliga, three in the Europa League, two in the DFB-Pokal and one in the Super Cup.

He has logged 1,672 minutes across those outings.
