Record writes that Benfica president Rui Costa filed a complaint over alleged insults aimed at the club before the derby at Sporting, and intervened with stadium security on arrival at Alvalade.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 17:09 as the Benfica party reached the ground after a detour via the Vasco da Gama Bridge due to an accident on the 25 de Abril Bridge.

While the team moved through the stadium’s VIP hall towards the dressing rooms, Rui Costa, walking ahead alongside José Mourinho’s assistant João Tralhão, became aware of insults directed at Benfica and reportedly demanded explanations.

He is understood to have addressed a security guard on site after being told the abuse had occurred in the VIP area of Estádio José Alvalade. A Sporting source expressed regret over the episode.

On the pitch, Mourinho’s side won at Alvalade thanks to goals from Andreas Schjelderup on 27 minutes and Rafa Silva in the 90+3rd minute. The result lifted Benfica provisionally into second in the Liga Portugal Betclic on 72 points, with Sporting able to reclaim the spot as they have a game in hand.
