Erica Meg, the creative Valadares Gaia midfielder of interest to Rui Costa, is no longer a straightforward Benfica target, with a switch to the USA under consideration, according to Glorioso 1904.

She received a senior call-up in April from head coach Sarina Wiegman for qualifiers against Iceland and Spain as England look towards the 2027 World Cup.

Until then, Meg had only featured for England’s youth sides, earning 22 caps at under-17 level and a further 12 appearances for the under-19s before joining the senior camp.
