Rui Costa monitoring Cruzeiro talent Kauã Prates as Dortmund lead and Porto join race | OneFootball

Benfica are monitoring Cruzeiro full-back Kauã Prates, with Porto also keen, but Borussia Dortmund are currently in front of the queue.

According to Glorioso 1904, Rui Costa has added the defender to Benfica’s list after consistent performances in Brazilian football, which have drawn international interest.

Dortmund are seen as the leading contenders and the player favours a move to the German league, which complicates Benfica’s chances. The Bundesliga club’s sporting project appears to appeal at this stage.

Beyond Benfica, Napoli, Juventus and Olympiacos are monitoring the situation, and Porto have joined the chase for the Cruzeiro prospect.

Benfica’s hierarchy do not view Prates as a priority and would only move if terms are favourable, with no plan to overspend.

In 2025 for Cruzeiro, Prates played 20 matches, eight in Série A, seven in the Copinha, three in the Copa Sudamericana, one in the Copa do Brasil and one in the Brasileiro Sub-20. Across 1,292 minutes he scored one goal and demonstrated considerable potential. He is valued at six million euros.
