Rui Pedro Braz came under fire from Al Ahli supporters on Saturday, with sections of the crowd calling for the former Benfica director to leave during the home game against Abha Club.
According to Glorioso 1904, chants demanding his exit were heard in the stands and relations between the Portuguese executive and the fanbase appear increasingly strained. The outlet adds that he does not want to take a player from Benfica.
On the pitch, Al Ahli eased to a 4-0 win over Abha Club. Francisco Trincão caught the eye with a superb goal.
Braz joined Benfica in 2022 and quickly took a prominent role overseeing football operations and major market decisions. During his spell at Estádio da Luz he was linked to headline signings including Orkun Kökçü, Richard Ríos and Georgiy Sudakov.
Now at Al Ahli since October last year, scrutiny of his tenure is intensifying. The supporters’ chants point to mounting pressure despite the team’s encouraging form on the pitch.
