Arturo Ruiz is chasing his first WSL victory when Charlton Athletic visit the Amex on Sunday at 2pm. He wants that result to take Albion into the international break in better shape.
According to TheArgus.co.uk, Albion are shifting more women’s fixtures to the Amex as part of a wider commitment that includes a proposed new stadium beside the main ground, which could open in 2030.
Ruiz, appointed just before the campaign on a contract until 2029, said the project underlined the club’s ambition, though it was not decisive given the timescale. He added that staging games at the Amex mattered to him and that the team feel strong there.
Albion drew 1-1 with Aston Villa at the Amex after conceding an 89th-minute goal direct from a corner. The crowd was 3,137. Having arrived one month ago, Ruiz said he did not know the usual average and was focused on performances and results, believing better displays would bring more fans.
Albion have two points from four league games but beat Charlton 4-0 at home in the Players Cup. Charlton have lost all matches so far this season and have not won, aside from a penalty shoot-out, since March.
