Rulani Mokwena's MC Alger secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sead Ramovic's CR Belouizdad in the Algerian Ligue 1 on Monday night.
It was the Chababists who broke the deadlock in the 18th minute through Farid El Melali, before MCA equalized six minutes later, thanks to Soufiane Bayazid with his fourth goal of the season.
With the game seemingly heading for a share of the spoils, Mokwena's men took the lead as Guinea international Alhassane Bangoura netted in the 81st minute.
The Algerian champions were reduced to 10-man, with Ayoub Abdellaoui receiving his marching orders in stoppage time.
Interestingly, the win will undoubtedly be of more significance to Mokwena on a personal level as he got one over his bitter rival Ramovic, with the pair having clashed with during their time in South Africa.
Meanwhile, MCA moved four points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, having amassed 25 points in nine matches and have three games in hand.
What's more, Mokwena's side remains the only unbeaten team in the league. The South African mentor has been tasked with retaining the championship on the domestic scene.
On the other hand, Belouizdad sit in 10th with 14 points collected from 10 league outings and are currently on a two-game winless run in the Algerian topflight division.
