Rulani Mokwena's MC Alger claimed a 1-0 victory over USM Khenchela in the Algerian Ligue 1 on Thursday afternoon.
Algerian forward Soufiane Bayazid netted a late winner in the 84th minute to ensure the defending champions return to Algiers with maximum points.
As a result, MCA stretched their unbeaten start to the season under the tutelage of the South African mentor to nine game across all competitions.
Moreover, Mokwena's men moved to the summit of the Algerian Ligue 1 standings, level on 16 points with second-placed JS Saoura, with three games in hand.
Up next for the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Casablanca boss is an assignment against Saoura at home on Monday, 03 November.
