Russell Martin says Harry Souttar has not asked to leave Leicester this summer, despite interest from Sheffield United and Wrexham, and the defender remains in his plans.

The Leicester boss told LeicestershireLive: “He’s got a fantastic attitude and wants to play. We’ve had no official bid.”

Souttar has been linked with a move all summer, with reports suggesting Sheffield United saw two bids fail. Wrexham have been touted as frontrunners this week.

He has captained Leicester in their first two games of the season and is expected to feature at MK Dons on Saturday. With fewer than four days of the window left, his future remains uncertain.

Martin said Souttar is available for selection, unlike Wout Faes, Stephy Mavididi and Hamza Choudhury.

“So again, it’s all this talk and stuff like that, which can be really distracting. He’s really relaxed about things and I think he’s going to improve along with the team. He’s not been back in for very long. He’s doing something very different for him and he’ll continue to improve and grow with us.”
