Rute Costa, let go by Rui Costa, signs for Benfica rival Torreense

Rute Costa has signed for Torreense, linking up with a direct rival of Benfica roughly two weeks after leaving the club.

Torreense confirmed the move on their social media, sharing an image of the goalkeeper in club colours alongside a welcome message.

The Portugal international, 31, ended a Benfica spell of about three and a half years. She is ready to be considered for selection by a side currently third in the Liga BPI.

Benfica’s women faced Torreense in the Taça de Portugal this season. Torreense are the reigning holders of the Taça de Portugal and the Supertaça, both won against Benfica.

Costa will bolster the goal for the Torres Vedras club, who are coached by Gonçalo Nunes.
