Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch (23) is a major doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Eintracht Frankfurt after missing training on Tuesday, deepening Arne Slot’s growing selection concerns, according to reports from BBC Sport.
The Dutch international sustained an ankle injury during Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United at Anfield. Although he completed over an hour before being substituted amid tactical reshuffling, his absence from training suggests he may not recover in time for the European fixture.
Since Slot’s arrival, Gravenberch has emerged as a pivotal figure in Liverpool’s midfield, anchoring play from deep with a blend of defensive discipline and composure on the ball. His ability to disrupt opposition attacks and maintain possession has been instrumental in balancing the side’s fluid system.
In his absence, Curtis Jones is the most likely candidate to deputise, though his strengths lie further forward. Wataru Endo has only recently returned from a hamstring issue and is not expected to start in Germany.
With Liverpool’s defence already conceding 15 goals this season, the timing of Gravenberch’s injury is particularly concerning. Slot now faces a delicate tactical adjustment, as the midfielder’s recovery could prove decisive in restoring stability during a demanding run of domestic and European fixtures.
