Ryan Gravenberch has signed a new six-year contract with Liverpool to keep him at Anfield until 2032.

The Netherlands international has been rewarded for establishing himself at the heart of their midfield and becoming a key player for Arne Slot.

Now Liverpool, who believe he is one of the best midfielders in Europe, have moved to tie down the 23-year-old until after his 30th birthday.

Gravenberch, who was bought from Bayern Munich for €40m (£34m) in 2023, was a squad player in his first season at Anfield.

But he started 37 league games last year as Slot’s side became Premier League champions and has been a regular again in the current campaign and was willing during talks to commit his future to Liverpool.

“I feel really, really good,” Gravenberch said. “I was really proud to extend my contract at such a big club. So, I’m really happy that I can stay for many more years.

“I felt directly the trust from the club, also from the manager. The decision for me was easy to make. My family is also happy here. We are now here almost three years, so I know everything already. I’m happy that I’m here.”

Gravenberch adds to the list of players Liverpool have contracted until at least 2030, who include summer signings Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni and Giorgi Mamardashvili, plus Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool had the biggest wage bill in the Premier League last season, at £428m, and their continuing investment in contracts and transfer fees is seen as a sign of their ambition to continue to compete for trophies.
