Ryan Jack signs one-year contract extension with Rangers | OneFootball

Rangers have announced that midfielder Ryan Jack has signed a new one-year deal.

The 31-year-old joined the Ibrox club from Aberdeen in 2017 and has played over 180 games for them.

Jack helped Rangers win their first Scottish Premiership title in a decade in 2021, weighing in with two goals and one assist in 19 appearances.

The Scotland international also won the Scottish Cup with the Light Blues last term.

Jack struggled with injuries in recent seasons but has overcome those fitness woes to feature in 31 games this term.

Rangers manager Michael Beale plans to make much-needed and major squad changes this summer.

However, he has opted to retain Jack, and his experience and quality will come in handy.

Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis are all expected to leave when their contracts expire this summer.

Rangers are set to end the season without silverware, and changes are needed this summer.

Celtic have dominated across all three competitions, and Rangers are looking to bounce back next term.

Fresh faces are needed, but retaining some key players is important.

Jack is entering his seventh year at the club and has been a faithful servant.

He knows what it takes to challenge Celtic, and Beale needs such a player in his dressing room.

“I am obviously delighted with it – it has been in the background for a little while,” the midfielder told the club’s official website.

“I am delighted to get it done before the summer, and I can go and focus over the off-season.

“I have played for the club for a number of years now, I love playing for the club and I love being here.

“I’m settled and my family are settled, so when I initially spoke to the manager and he said he wanted me to stay it was a no-brainer.”
