Flamengo have agreed to sell Ryan Roberto to Shakhtar Donetsk, a move that will help create room in their budget this window. The deal is €9.5 million guaranteed plus €500,000 in bonuses, rising to €10 million.
"There is not a single day at Flamengo when we are not discussing positions, succession and what could happen in six months or a year. We are always looking. With the squad we have, we do not want a reinforcement, we want the reinforcement, and he must be available, his club must want to negotiate, he must want to play here, and his timing must fit the window and his intentions. There are many variables," Bap told Charla Podcast.
Although not fully paid up front, the money gives Flamengo more flexibility. Ryan Roberto could have left for free in March, when his deal was due to expire, so the terms suit all parties.
Heavy spending earlier this year has tightened limits. The Paquetá deal alone cost €42 million, with €25 million paid immediately and taxes pushing the figure higher, leaving roughly €10 to €15 million available.
Flamengo’s total football budget for 2026 is R$ 1.1 billion, including an estimated R$ 450 million wage bill, new signings, signing-on fees and instalments from past deals.
This year’s plan projected a little over R$ 250 million in sales. Completed moves include Juninho to Pumas for five million dollars, Victor Hugo to Atlético-MG for two million dollars and Iago to Orlando City for $1.2 million.
Recruitment priorities include a centre-forward to compete with Pedro and a midfielder to back up Arrascaeta, with left-back and a holding midfielder also targeted. The club intend to keep their core and only sanction exits of non-key players, otherwise replacements would be required.
