Sabri Lamouchi has reportedly been sacked by Tunisia after only one World Cup match, a 5-1 opening defeat to Sweden.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, reports on Monday said the 54-year-old would be removed during the tournament.
Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest beat Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United on 8 February 2020, a night the head coach later called a ‘loss of faith’. A haunted Luke Ayling struggled to explain the display, and that defeat left Leeds with one win in six.
Leeds steadied with a 1-1 draw at Brentford a few days later, then won five on the bounce and 12 of their final 14 to be crowned champions.
Forest managed only three wins in their last 15 and finished seventh, missing the play-offs on goal difference. Lamouchi was dismissed in October 2020.
He later coached Al-Duhail, had half a season at Cardiff City, was sacked by Al-Riyadh and Al-Diriyah, then took the Tunisia job in January. Tunisia now face an uphill task in Group F, with Japan and the Netherlands still to come.
