Sadiq aims to emulate Hugo Duro, the ‘only’ scorer at Mestalla | OneFootball

Valencia will host Elche in the Comunitat Valenciana derby without Hugo Duro, suspended for yellow-card accumulation, a significant blow given his home form. As reported by AS, at Mestalla he has been their only source of goals in recent weeks.

That pattern dates to 9 November, exactly two months ago. On that day Luis Rioja scored against Betis. Since then Valencia have scored only three home goals and all were by Duro.

He decided the city derby with Levante on 21 November, his strike earning three vital points, still the club’s most recent victory.

Duro then levelled against Sevilla in the 93rd minute to salvage a draw at Mestalla.

He also found the net versus Mallorca in the final home match of the year, securing another point.

With Duro sidelined, Lucas Beltrán, part of the squad since summer, is the alternative. Sadiq wants to follow the Duro template and score on his debut against the franjiverde side.
