There was a strong AC Milan presence in Rijeka, as hosts Croatia took on Belgium in a pre-World Cup friendly, with the Red Devils eventually running out 2-0 winners. Three Rossoneri players featured in the match. On one side was Luka Modrić, who played the opening 58 minutes and made his 197th appearance for Croatia. For Belgium, Alexis Saelemaekers and Koni De Winter were both involved, with the latter replacing the former in the 67th minute. It was De Winter's eighth appearance for the Red Devils and Saelemaekers' 24th. Modrić, Saelemaekers and De Winter will continue their World Cup preparations over the coming days. Belgium will face Tunisia in Brussels on Saturday, while Croatia will host Slovenia in Varaždin on Sunday evening.
