According to BuLi News, PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari is set to join Vincent Kompany’s Bayern for the 2026/27 season, for around €50 million. The Morocco international scored at this year’s World Cup against Brazil. If the move is completed, he would become the club’s fourth Moroccan.
The three who came before him had very different experiences. Here are their stories in chronological order.
Medhi Benatia arrived from Roma in 2014 for €28 million, during one of Bayern’s most dominant periods, filling a role similar to Minjae Kim today. Up against Jerome Boateng, David Alaba, Javi Martínez and Dante, he made 46 appearances and scored three goals, then joined Juventus for almost €20 million.
Noussair Mazraoui signed in 2022 on a free to solve the full-back issue, but injuries stopped him cementing a starting place. He had shone at Ajax, emerging in the same period as PSG’s Achraf Hakimi. After 55 games for Bayern, he moved to Manchester United for €15 million.
Adam Aznou, a highly rated left-back, left Barcelona’s La Masia in 2024 to chase quicker first-team chances in Munich. While peers including Lamine Yamal broke through at Barcelona, he stayed in the youth ranks and, after four senior games, left for Everton last year. He has one senior appearance in England, while prospects such as Lennart Karl have stepped up in Munich.
Should Saibari arrive, he would follow a Moroccan lineage at Bayern that spans contrasting paths and outcomes.
