Said El Mala has ended transfer speculation by signing a new contract with 1.FC Köln until June 2031.

In a club video, the 19-year-old winger said he is staying and will switch his shirt from 13 to No 10. He will be the first Köln player to wear the No 10 since club great Lukas Podolski.

The news comes as a relief to supporters after Borussia Dortmund made three failed attempts to sign the German international this summer.

After Dortmund stepped back, RB Leipzig were linked with a late move, but nothing materialised.

The decision will greatly boost Rene Wagner’s team before the new season, after El Mala scored 13 Bundesliga goals last campaign.
