AS Saint-Étienne have received a blow ahead of Saturday’s game against AS Monaco after Eirik Horneland revealed that Lucas Stassin (20) would miss the encounter.
Stassin has been in excellent form for Les Verts in 2025. He has 11 goals in Ligue 1 since the turn of the year. Only Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé (13) has more than the Belgium youth international. He is the reason why, going into the final three games of the season, there is still hope for Saint-Étienne as they look to retain their top-flight status. They are currently in the relegation zone, one point behind Le Havre AC, who occupy the relegation play-off spot and three points behind SCO Angers, who are currently on course to stay up.
However, against Monaco, Sainté will be without Stassin. Horneland revealed that the striker has been struggling with a muscular issue for several weeks and that his fitness was being managed. However, he has not trained at all since last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to RC Strasbourg Alsace.
“He is a young player and we hope that we will get him back quickly because there aren’t many weeks (of the season) left,” said Horneland.
