Bukayo Saka says the two-game suspension of Jarell Quansah is very frustrating, but that England must now just focus on the quarter-final in hand against Norway.
Quansah was sent off against Mexico in the round of 16 game which England won 3-2, for serious foul play following a challenge on Jesus Gallardo.
Folarin Balogun was sent off for the USA against Bosnia, also for serious foul play, but had his suspension postponed.
On how he felt, Saka said: “Yeah, very frustrating for sure. But it’s the way it is now. We have to deal with it and adapt and be ready for the game.”
Asked whether there was a bit of confusion given what happened with Balogun, the winger said: “No, I don’t really know what to say. I have no comment on that. That was FIFA’s decision. This decision for us, focusing on ourselves, is frustrating. But yeah, like I said, we have to adapt, deal with it and pick a team that’s ready for the next game.”
England are now two games from the final, and Saka said the squad are not scared of talking about winning the whole thing: “Yes. Yeah, that’s obviously our goal. But we’re just focused on the next game because we know right now there’s literally three games between that. So we’re just focused on Norway now and then it will be the semi-final.
“Obviously, we’ve been here a few times, like you said, but the best team on the day is going to be the team that wins, so we’re aware of that and that’s where our focus is.”
