Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has unveiled his 28 man preliminary squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations featuring five foreign based players.

The squad will travel to Morocco for the tournament where Egypt are drawn into challenging group alongside Zimbabwe, South Africa and Angola.

Five player from abroad with three in Europe

The overseas contingent includes:

Salah, Marmoush and Mostafa Mohamed form the European based trio.. all expected to play decisive roles in Egypt’s attacking structure.

Team director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed that Egypt will submit their final AFCON squad list on 11 December.

Pharaohs preparation schedule

  • 3 December: National team camp begins
  • 14 December: Friendly vs Nigeria in Cairo
  • 17 December: Team departs for Morocco
  • 22 December: AFCON opener vs Zimbabwe
  • 26 December: Egypt vs South Africa
  • 29 December: Egypt vs Angola
