Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah says he has not received any contract offers from the club with his deal set to expire in the summer.

The Egyptian, who is Liverpool’s top scorer this season with 12 goals, is out of contract at the end of the campaign. The 32-year-old scored twice in the Reds’ 3-2 win over bottom club Southampton, including the winner, to extend Arne Slot’s men’s lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points.

In a rare appearance after the match, Salah told reporters he was disappointed to have not been offered a new deal at this stage in the season:

“We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club,” Salah said. “I’m probably more out than in.

“I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.”

Salah is second in the race for the Premier League golden boot with ten goals, two behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, with his latest brace taking him to 167 league goals. The Egyptian last signed a contract extension in 2022, with that current three year deal expiring in June.

Teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are also out of contract in the summer, with the trio’s futures all hanging in the balance.

“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this,” said Salah.

“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad had a £150 million bid for Salah rejected by Liverpool in September 2023, with the forward five weeks away from being able to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club. “I don’t want to speak about that,” he said. “I am focused on the team now.”
