Brazil play their final pre-World Cup friendly against Egypt on Saturday at 19:00 Brasília time, and Flamengo supporters will recognise 11 Egypt call-ups who have faced the club in recent years.
According to Coluna Do Fla, that tally stems from meetings with Al Ahly and Pyramids at Club World Cups, plus Mohamed Salah’s appearance for Liverpool in 2019.
The most recent encounter was in December last year, when Flamengo beat Pyramids 2-0. Danilo and Léo Pereira, both now in the Brazil squad, scored, and Alex Sandro also started.
From Egypt’s current group, Mohannad Lasheen and Mostafa Ziko began that 13 December 2025 match, while left-back Karim Hafez was a substitute.
Seven of Egypt’s 26 World Cup selections were with Al Ahly for the 2022 Club World Cup third-place match, staged in 2023. Flamengo won 4-2, with two goals each from Pedro and Gabigol. Ahmed Abdelkader scored both for Al Ahly but is not going to the World Cup.
Those who featured that day and could face Brazil on Saturday are Mohamed El Shenawy, Mohamed Hany, Hamdi Fathi, Ramy Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Abdelmonem and Marwan Attia.
The only Egyptian call-up who has not faced Flamengo with a domestic side is Mohamed Salah, who played in Liverpool’s 1-0 win in the 2019 Club World Cup final, decided by Roberto Firmino.
