Vasco have unveiled Uruguayan centre-back Alan Saldivia, who said Fernando Diniz was instrumental in his decision to join.

According to Globo.com, the 23-year-old has signed a permanent contract through 2028 and will wear number four.

He will not feature on Thursday against Maricá in the Campeonato Carioca due to registration matters. Admar Lopes indicated there is a chance he and Johan Rojas could debut in the next round, potentially on Sunday.

Saldivia said Diniz had been in contact for about a year and that their conversations about growth and improvement convinced him. He described an intense day of change and said he was pleased to be at the club.

After a difficult 2025 at Colo-Colo, marked by fitness issues, he feels better prepared for the new season. He is targeting silverware with Vasco and is comfortable on either side of central defence.

He noted his stature and said he compensates with attitude, desire to compete and a strong defensive commitment.
