Foot Mercato are reporting that former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu (36) is training with OGC Nice ahead of a potential move.
Sirigu is a free agent following the expiry of his Fiorentina contract earlier this summer. The Italian joined PSG from Palermo back in 2011 for just under €4m, and despite a series of loan spells whilst with Les Parisiens, the Italian shot-stopper went on to feature 190 times for the Ligue 1 club. He has since had spells at Torino, Genoa, Napoli and Fiorentina.
He is now training with Nice, who want to make sure that the Italian has no physical issues before confirming the signing. A decision on his signing will likely be made before Sunday, and the club have a plan B, should Sirigu not be signed.
Nice are in the market for a goalkeeper following Kasper Schmeichel’s (36) departure on transfer deadline day. The Danish international’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, and he has since joined Anderlecht. Les Aiglons are therefore in the market for a back-up to Marcin Bulka, who is the uncontested number one under new manager Francesco Farioli.
