The dream XI Norwich City could realistically have once the transfer window closes this summer

Norwich City will be aiming to compete for promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Canaries finished ninth in the previous campaign, eight points adrift of the top six under Philippe Clement.

The 52-year-old oversaw an impressive second half of 2025/26, lifting the Norfolk outfit out of the relegation battle and into the top half of the standings.

Norwich haven’t competed in the top flight since 2022, but will be hoping they can return to the division by the end of the upcoming season.

But first they will have to navigate the final weeks of the transfer window, and the club will surely be keen to strengthen the squad before the market shuts.

Here we look at what a dream Norwich XI could look like by the end of the window, as the 1 September deadline approaches.

GK: Vladan Kovacevic

Vladan Kovacevic cemented himself as first-choice goalkeeper last season, and he is likely to hold onto that role in 2026/27.

LB: Kellen Fisher

Kellen Fisher has proven a versatile figure for Norwich, and he has attracted transfer interest this summer.

But the Norfolk outfit will be hoping that they can hold onto him, as he remains their best option at left-back, even if he will miss the start of the campaign due to injury.

CB: Jose Cordoba

Jose Cordoba cemented himself as a crucial part of the side under Clement in the second half of last season.

And the centre-back is likely to maintain his place in the starting lineup by the time the market closes.

Kenny McLean played in 42 of Norwich’s 46 league games in 2025/26, and has been a stalwart of the side since 2018/19.

While the Canaries have made additions in midfield this summer, the Scot is likely to maintain his place in an ideal starting lineup of Clement’s choosing.

Competition will be stiff for midfield minutes next season, with Jacob Wright and Sam Field also in contention for game time.

But Pelle Mattson is most likely to get the nod from Clement for the start of the campaign, with no other additions in this area expected between now and 1 September.

The injury to Ali Ahmed has left Norwich in need of a new left-winger, as he is set to miss most of the campaign.

And Sam Edozie could be an ideal target to take up the mantle, as it’s been reported that he is attracting interest from Championship clubs this summer.

The Canaries should look to seal a deal for the 23-year-old, as he is down the pecking order at St. Mary’s, but he has the potential to perform to quite a high standard at this level.

Jovon Makama had a promising first season with the Canaries in which he scored 10 goals from 28 league games.

And with the striker position now locked down by Mo Touré, Jovon Makama being utilised primarily as the starting right-winger makes the most sense for Clement’s side.
