Xavier Domergue, Thibault Le Rol, Marina Lorenzo, and Smaïl Bouabdellah are among the key names set to front the LFP’s new Ligue 1 platform. Samir Nasri and Franck Ribéry are reportedly also in talks for pundit roles, according to a report from L’Équipe.

With just over a month to go before the Ligue 1 season kicks off on August 15, LFP Media – the commercial arm of the French league – is finalising the editorial and on-screen team for its in-house streaming platform. Mediawan, the production powerhouse backed by Pierre-Antoine Capton, has been selected to support the operation. A name for the new channel is expected to be revealed this Thursday at a press conference.

At the heart of the new project will be Xavier Domergue, secured as a lead commentator and long seen as a priority by LFP president Nicolas de Tavernost. The experienced voice, who will remain part of M6’s international football coverage, will be joined by Thibault Le Rol, previously a presenter of Prime Video’s Ligue 1 coverage from 2021 to 2024. Marina Lorenzo, who held a similar role during Amazon’s tenure, is also expected to return to front the league’s main magazine show.

Smaïl Bouabdellah, another familiar face across French football broadcasting from his time with TF1 and DAZN, is also in advanced talks. More significantly, Samir Nasri, whose contract with Canal+ is set to expire, has been approached for a marquee pundit role. His performances as an analyst since 2021 have earned widespread praise, and the LFP views him as a potential flagship figure, comparable to Thierry Henry’s stint on Amazon’s coverage.

Canal+ are still in talks to retain Nasri, but the LFP is keen to position him as the face of its new product – a recognisable voice able to draw coaches and players into studio discussions, while offering quality analysis.GFFN | Freddie Aston
