Samu ruled out for rest of season after serious knee injury

Samu suffered a serious knee injury during FC Porto’s 1-1 draw with Sporting yesterday and will not play again this season.

According to O Jogo, the Spanish forward sustained a right knee sprain with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, an injury similar to Luuk de Jong’s at the start of the campaign.

The young striker will undergo further tests and seek additional medical opinions before deciding whether to have surgery.

The Spanish football federation has been informed, and his 2026 World Cup ambitions now appear over.

He was injured on 45 minutes in the clássico and was substituted at the interval.
