Samuel Dahl form leaves Benfica considering left-back for 2026/27 | OneFootball

Benfica have not ruled out signing a left-back for 2026/27, with Samuel Dahl’s form shaping internal debate.

According to Glorioso 1904, club figures questioned the youngster’s reliability after the recent rout of Moreirense, when an error by the No 26 led to a goal scored by Diogo Travassos.

It is recognised within the board and coaching staff that the Swedish defender has improved markedly since José Mourinho arrived. Even so, despite praise from the head coach, he is still viewed as short of the required level.

The club are weighing options to add competition for Dahl while José Neto continues his development with the secondary team. There have also been rumours that the Lisbon side considered a move for Raphael Guerreiro.

This season Dahl, valued at €12 million, has made 50 appearances for Benfica. They comprise 30 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 13 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça, totalling 4,327 minutes with two goals and two assists.
