Samuel Dahl is set for a week off at Benfica after the 3-0 win over Vitória de Guimarães, with the international break providing a pause. The Swedish player has carried a heavy workload and was not called up by his national team.
Record writes that he currently has the most minutes in the Benfica squad and will be given a deserved breather.
The defender has completed a high-rotation run of 25 matches. After starting as a substitute against Atlético in November, he has not stopped since. He played 23 games in full, was only replaced versus Moreirense and was unused against AFS.
José Mourinho previously noted that Dahl was among the players who improved most under him, expressing satisfaction with the 23-year-old’s progress. He joined permanently from Roma at the start of this season for 9 million euros. He is valued at 12 million euros.
This season for Benfica, Dahl has made 46 competitive appearances. He has played 26 in the Liga Portugal Betclic, 13 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,967 minutes he has scored two goals and recorded two assists.
