Samuel Lino has a personal milestone in sight as Flamengo face Independiente del Valle on Thursday 10, the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals. According to Coluna Do Fla, the No 16 is close to matching the most prolific season of his career.
His best return came in 2021/22, when he scored 14 goals for Gil Vicente. In 2026 he has 12 for Flamengo, leaving him two short of equalling that mark.
With the campaign still under way, he also has time to surpass it. Every match carries extra meaning, with Libertadores commitments alongside the Brasileirão run-in.
This season he has 43 appearances, 12 goals and 10 assists. Those numbers have made him a standout for Flamengo since Leonardo Jardim took charge in March.
His form has earned a call-up from Carlo Ancelotti for the next FIFA window, from 21 September to six October. Brazil are scheduled to play two friendlies against Australia and one against India.
It is his second senior call-up, the first arriving in August 2025 when he replaced Matheus Cunha after a muscle injury.
Kick-off is at 21:30 Brasília time at Estádio Olímpico Atahualpa.
