Borussia Dortmund got 2024 off to a winning start with a comfortable 3-0 victory away at Darmstadt as Jadon Sancho marked his return with an assist off the bench.
Scorers: Brandt 24′, Reus 77′, Moukoko 90+2′
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens who got things going for Dortmund after 24 minutes when he slipped Julian Brandt through on goal and he caught the goalkeeper flat-footed with a low finish into the far corner.
In the second half, Sancho was brought on for his second Dortmund debut and it didn’t take him long to have an impact when he selflessly teed up fellow substitute Marco Reus to score and register a first goal involvement early.
Another substitute had his say in injury-time when Youssoufa Moukoko tore through the heart of the Darmstadt defence, showing some fancy footwork en route, before finishing via the underside of the crossbar.
The victory moves Edin Terzić’s men within three points of the top four.
