City Elite Development Squad duo Mahamadou Sangare and Seb Naylor have both been nominated for October’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

The pair were at the forefront of what was a busy month for Ben Wilkinson’s Under-21s exciting Under-21s.

Sangare and Naylor’s efforts helped the City youngsters to record impressive home PL2 victories over Reading (3-0) and Leicester (4-0) across the calendar month.

Striker Sangare caught the eye with his pace, vision and finishing ability, the 18-year-old bagging a brace in that victory over the Royals at the start of the month and then fjnding the target again the Halloween success over Leicester.

Full-back Naylor, 20, meanwhile had an equally impressive impact with this defensive acumen and fine technical ability also supplemented by his threat going forward, a point amply illustrated with his superb brace of goals in that victory over the Foxes.

The City duo were nominated for the award by the Premier League Football Development Panel.

Also up for October’s prize are Brandon Powell (Blackburn), Gabriele Biancheri of Manchester United, Ipswich duo Luca Fletcher and Woody Williamson, Laurence Giani of Stoke City and Tottenham’s Luca Williams-Barnett.

The winner will be announced on Friday 14 November at 10.00 (UK).
