Kaishu Sano opened the scoring for Japan against Brazil after half an hour, beating Alisson Becker with a crisp low strike.

L'Équipe notes that Brazil have struggled to convince since the start of the 2026 World Cup, and they again paid for frailty at full-back.

Near halfway, Danilo attempted a difficult pass infield into an area crowded by two Japanese players, and Sano pounced on the right-back's mistake.

Facing a retreating, split Brazilian unit, Sano carried the ball to the edge of the area and swept a low effort into the net.

Brazil trailed at the break, leaving Vinicius Junior and his team-mates needing much more in the second half to trouble an extremely disciplined Japan.
