América manager Santiago Solari has lauded the strong mentality of his squad, but played down the idea that Las Águilas are becoming impossible to beat.
That means América have won nine, drawn one, and lost just two of their opening 12 league games (with one of those defeats being a win over Atlas that was subsequently overturned due to a technicality).
“I am not aware of having heard that (that they are invincible),” Solari said after his side’s victory in Sinaloa.
“The games are all different, the rivals have their style and way of playing, each one specialises in one thing, we are all very competitive, anything can happen.
“If my team had not come with the right mentality, it would have been impossible to achieve this result.
“Football is very competitive at this level and it is very difficult to get victories.”
Cruz Azul have the opportunity to jump back over their city rivals when they host Atlas on Saturday night.
With the international break about to kick in, América are not back in action until 3 April when they take on strugglers Necaxa.
