Santos accept São Paulo’s Vila Belmiro request, weigh moving one match to capital | OneFootball

Santos have agreed to let São Paulo stage November’s Campeonato Brasileiro clássico against Corinthians at Vila Belmiro, and are weighing moving one of their own fixtures to the capital.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the choice of which home game to take to São Paulo depends on the CBF’s round-by-round scheduling, particularly for September and October.

The club face logistical hurdles, including stadium availability, coordination with other São Paulo sides and clearances from authorities such as the Ministério Público. São Paulo’s request follows concert commitments at Morumbis that require alternative venues.

The arrangement echoes a 2025 swap, when the clubs signed a deal to use each other’s grounds. That year Santos played two league matches in the capital, beating Juventude 3-1 on 4 August in the 18th round, then losing 6-0 to Vasco on 17 August in the 20th.

São Paulo appeared at Vila Belmiro four times in that period, drawing 2-2 with Flamengo, losing 1-0 to Red Bull Bragantino, and beating Juventude 2-1 and Internacional 3-0. There were supporter complaints, and then-president Julio Casares later left office after impeachment.

In 2026 Santos have already played three times in the capital, drawing 0-0 with Red Bull Bragantino in the Paulista and losing 3-0 to Coritiba in the Brasileiro, both at Neo Química Arena, plus a 3-0 friendly win over União São João at Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu.

A bid to use Morumbis this year did not progress. Following São Paulo’s November booking at Vila Belmiro, Santos will decide which game to relocate once the league schedule and required approvals are in place.
