Globo Esporte reports that Santos have agreed to sell Adonis Frías to Atlas for three point seven million dollars, keeping 20% of any future sale. The fee could reach four point five million dollars through bonuses.

The centre-back had a loan offer from Racing, which would have sent right-back Gastón Martirena to Santos. Talks were advanced and the board even shifted priorities to pay overdue wages to lift a transfer ban.

Atlas then moved in with a permanent bid to the Alvinegro, and offered Frías a higher salary and a more attractive sporting plan, with the player already adapted to Mexico. Santos saw a chance to bring in cash and delay the transfer ban payment.

The incoming money would be enough to settle the club’s debt to Monaco, ending a FIFA sanction and allowing new signings to be registered.

Frías recently apologised to supporters after an error against UCV, starting then withdrawn at half-time in a 4-2 win at Vila Belmiro in the Sudamericana play-off second leg on 28 July. His misplaced pass led to a goal inside 25 seconds, but Santos recovered to win.

He returned to the starting XI after the World Cup break. This year he has two goals in 24 games, with seven outings in the Paulista, one goal against Bragantino in nine Brasileirão rounds, one against Coritiba across three Copa do Brasil ties, and five appearances in the Sudamericana.

Signed last September, he also played 13 times in the 2025 Brasileirão. His contract ran to December 2028.

Adonis Uriel Frías, 28, was born in Florencio Varela and came through Defensa y Justicia, winning the 2020 Sudamericana and 2021 Recopa, then moving via Los Andes and Mexico’s León to Santos.
