According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos have been impressed by midfielder Gustavo Henrique and have approached his representatives to bring forward a further extension. He extended his deal last year to January 2028. The club believe their midfield is on the right track and he also has the approval of Cuca’s coaching staff.
He played the final Copinha of his youth career in January, then joined the first team after ageing out. He had been valued by former coach Vojvoda and continues to have opportunities under the new manager.
Gustavo Henrique made his senior debut as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 win over Novorizontino at Vila Belmiro, the Paulistão opener on 10 January.
He later featured in the Brasileirão, starting against Corinthians at Vila Belmiro and against Cruzeiro at the Mineirão. Before that, he had played five Copinha matches.
In the academy he was occasionally used at right-back. He began at Independente, had a stint at Corinthians, and has been at the club for eight years.
In 2026 he has five Copinha appearances, one in the Paulistão and two in the Brasileirão.
