Santos are awaiting guidance from Conmebol on whether their Copa Sudamericana play-off fixtures in Venezuela will be altered after powerful earthquakes struck the country.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the club remains in regular contact with Conmebol and the CBF as it tracks developments and waits for any decision on the Universidad Central ties.

Football executive Alexandre Mattos said the humanitarian crisis takes precedence, adding that any call on the games depends on how the situation evolves in Venezuela. He said the club's thoughts are with those affected.

For now the schedule is unchanged. The first leg is set for 21 July in Caracas, with the return on 28 July at Vila Belmiro.

The winners will face Macará of Ecuador in the round of 16.

Venezuela was hit by two quakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 within under a minute, the strongest in more than a century. Latest figures put the death toll at 1,450, with thousands injured and about 50,000 missing. Hospitals, public buildings and other infrastructure have also been damaged.
