Santos close to signing Christian Oliva, medical tests pending before announcement

Santos are awaiting the arrival of Uruguayan midfielder Christian Oliva in Brazil to complete medical tests and sign a three-season contract. According to Globo.com, only those formalities remain before the 29-year-old is announced.

The club have been seeking a midfielder capable of competing for a starting place.

So far they have announced four signings, Gabigol, Gabriel Menino, Rony and Moisés. The board are also in the market for another centre-back.

Oliva came through Nacional in Montevideo and made his professional debut in 2018. He then featured for Cagliari, Valencia, Talleres and Juárez, before returning to Montevideo in 2024.

Last season he played 42 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists. In 2026 he has appeared only twice for Nacional.
