Santos have shortened their mid-season camp in Portugal because of the Copa Sul-Americana playoff. The club will now spend less time in Europe.
The first game against Universidad Central (VEN) is scheduled for 21 July, the same window as the 19th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. According to Globo.com, the CBF could bring forward Botafogo v Santos from 22 or 23 July to 18 July.
Santos had planned to stay until 17 July. With the potential date change, the squad will arrive on 5 July and return shortly after a friendly on 12 July.
The tour will now feature two friendlies instead of three. One is expected on 8 July, with the opponent to be confirmed. On 12 July they will face Vitória de Guimarães at Estádio D. Afonso Henriques, a fixture already announced by the club.
A planned match against Santa Clara, who finished 13th in the last Portuguese league season, has been cancelled.
Santos will be based in Guimarães, about 30 minutes from Porto. The club believes the location will ease the return journey, being close to the airport.
Head coach Cuca views the camp positively, seeing a chance to run important tests and raise match sharpness for the second half of the year. He also hopes to have reinforcements available for the games in Portugal.
