João Victor Fernandes has returned to Santos after a loan spell, with his registration restored on Thursday 3 on the CBF’s BID, and is training separately at CT Rei Pelé. According to Diario Do Peixe, the goalkeeper has rejoined the squad but is not working with the main group.

He faces competition from Gabriel Brazão, João Paulo, Díogenes, Rodrigo Falcão and João Pedro from the under-20s. Out of first-team plans, he had been loaned to Confiança-SE at the start of the season but did not play.

He asked to leave the Sergipe club and an opportunity arose at Santo André. He featured in a friendly for the Ramalhão against São Paulo and drew praise, but Santos could not complete his paperwork and did not even rescind his link with the Aracaju side.

With the Copa Paulista ongoing, there was no time to register him at the ABC Paulista club. With the window open until 11 September, there were enquiries from Portugal but no formal offer, so he stays with the Alvinegro for now and the club may seek another loan or alternative pathway.

Before the Confiança-SE move, Santos extended his contract to the end of 2028, having previously been due to expire in December this year alongside the loan. He aged out after his final Copinha and, though available to the seniors, spent last year only training, without a debut or any matchday inclusion.

Born in Rio Verde, Goiás, the 22-year-old began at Santo André then moved to Ponte Preta, joining Santos in February 2023. He has since featured at under-20 level in the Brasileiro, Paulista and Copa do Brasil, plus the Brasileiro de Aspirantes.
