Santos ‘in talks to sign’ Ian Luccas from Athletic | OneFootball

Santos are negotiating the signing of midfielder Ian Luccas from Athletic, the Minas Gerais club. The player has stood out in Série B.

According to Globo.com, the move has the green light from head coach Cuca, who wants more options in a midfield area he has identified as short.

A Ferroviária academy graduate, Ian Luccas made his professional debut in 2022, then moved to Cruzeiro later that year. He has since been loaned to Ferroviária, Goiás and Athletic.

Primarily a deep-lying midfielder, he can fill other roles and operate as a more advanced playmaker. At Athletic, coach Alex has recently used him in attack, where he has scored two goals in the club’s last three Série B matches.

He also impressed in the Copa do Brasil, where Athletic were eliminated by Internacional in the competition’s fifth phase. Ian Luccas scored both goals for Athletic in a 3-2 defeat at Arena Beira Rio.
