Santos face Palmeiras in the Copa do Brasil quarter-final on Wednesday, trailing 3-0, and could be without Gustavinho after his injury on Sunday.

According to Globo.com, Arthur trained with the squad for the first time on Monday, but the 30-year-old is not registered so will not play this tie.

Gustavinho started against Corinthians but was forced off with a left thigh issue in the first half. Christian Oliva came on and scored the 1-0 winner at Neo Química Arena in the 25th round of the Brasileiro.

He is undergoing treatment and will be reassessed on Tuesday, with a remote chance of featuring. Neymar visited the training centre on Monday and, despite not appearing in club photos, is initially expected to be available to Cuca.

Cuca is inclined to field his strongest available side at Vila Belmiro, with medical absences the only exceptions. Gabriel Menino will not be available.

A probable Santos XI: Gabriel Brazão; Igor Vinicius, Lucas Veríssimo, Luan Peres, Escobar; Arão, Oliva, Gabriel Bontempo, Barreal; Neymar, Gabigol.

Starters from Sunday largely did recovery work on Monday, and the line-up should be set on Tuesday. Santos need a four-goal win to reach the semi-finals, while a three-goal margin forces penalties.

Any smaller victory, a draw or defeat would see Cuca’s side go out.
