Santos' overhaul has now passed 40 departures under Marcelo Teixeira, in charge since January 2024. The latest are Tiquinho Soares to Mirassol and JP Chermont to Coritiba on loan.
According to Globo.com, centre-back Alexis Duarte, a Paraguay international who is out of the plans, is expected to be next amid Mexican interest. His exit would edge the rebuild towards completion. Tomás Rincón has played six minutes in 2026.
Under sporting director Alexandre Mattos, Duarte would be the sixth to depart, following recent moves such as Gustavo Caballero to Portsmouth and Bilal Brahimi after a contract termination, plus Victor Hugo to Atlético-MG. Santos received 250,000 dollars, about R$ 1.4 million, equating to 10% of Galo's fee to Flamengo.
The most lucrative sales were academy duo Souza and Luca Meirelles. Souza joined Tottenham for 15 million euros, roughly R$ 94 million, with Santos due a little over R$ 82 million.
Before a 6-0 win over Velo Clube that sealed Paulistão quarter-final qualification, fans protested at Vila Belmiro, questioning little-used signings and the loss of youngsters. This year’s recruits Gabriel Menino, Rony, Gabriel Barbosa and Moisés have all been used by Juan Pablo Vojvoda. The next to arrive will be Nacional midfielder Christian Oliva.
Pressure predates this season. Santos endured seven matches without a win and flirted with Paulistão relegation before qualifying in the final round, and in the Brasileirão they have two defeats and one draw so far.
